Georgios Vasilopoulos is an Assistant Professor in Astrophysics at the Physics Department of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. His research focuses on observational high-energy astrophysics, particularly X-ray pulsars and ultra-luminous X-ray systems. He holds degrees from NKUA (BSc/MSc) and completed his PhD at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) while working at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE).
Postdoctoral experience includes roles at Yale University and the XMM-Newton SSC team in Strasbourg. In 2023, he returned to Greece via Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) funding, contributing to Project ASTRAPE at NKUA and the Institute of Accelerating Systems and Applications (IASA).
