Dr. Georgios Samaras is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Public Policy at King’s College London’s International School for Government. He specializes in far-right extremism, political communication, and authoritarianism in Europe and the U.S. His research focuses on the Greek far-right party Golden Dawn, post-economic crisis dynamics, and policy responses to illiberal practices. He holds a PhD from King’s College London and previously lectured in Political Economy at the Department of Political Economy (2022-2023).
Dr. Samaras is also a Research Associate at the Hellenic Observatory (LSE), ENA Institute, and sits on ETERON’s advisory board. He actively contributes to international media including BBC, The New York Times, and Al Jazeera. Key projects include collaborations with ETERON on industrial policy and gender divide research in Greece. His upcoming monograph Who Rules the Land of Denial? (2025) examines Greece’s political landscape.
His research spans visual analysis of far-right symbolism, crisis communication failures (e.g., Tempe Valley disaster), and anti-woke movements’ impact on European democracy. He received a 2025 fellowship for industrial policy research with ETERON, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to governance challenges.
