Dr. George Serra serves as a Professor of Political Science at Bridgewater State University, holding appointments in the Political Science department. His extensive administrative contributions include founding director of the university’s Center for Democratic Governance and Leadership (1997-2018), founding chairman of the Institutional Review Board (1999-2007), and founding campus liaison for The Washington Center Program (1999-2014).
His research focuses on legislative and electoral behavior, congressional representation of minority interests, presidency and executive politics, and policy implementation. Dr. Serra has published in leading political science journals including The Journal of Politics, Political Research Quarterly, and Legislative Studies Quarterly.
Award highlights include:

- 2003-2004 American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow
