George Neil Furey

George Neil Furey is an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), affiliated with the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management. His research focuses on plant-soil interactions at the intersection of soil biogeochemistry and plant ecology, aiming to understand how biodiversity drives ecosystem nutrient cycles. He holds a PhD (USA), MSc (Canada), and dual BSc/BA degrees (Canada).

• Research Themes: Ecosystem feedback mechanisms, terrestrial ecology, biogeochemical cycles, and agroecology.
• Interdisciplinary Approach: Combines soil science, ecology theory, and field experiments to study plant functional biodiversity’s role in element cycling.
