George-Levi Gayle is a Professor of Economics and holder of the John H. Biggs Distinguished Professorship in Economics at Washington University in St. Louis. He leads the Department of Economics and is affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) as a Research Associate in Labor Studies. His research focuses on labor economics, with emphasis on family and gender dynamics in labor markets, information frictions in earnings, and semi-parametric model estimation. Recent work explores gender gaps, intergenerational persistence in education, and dynamic general equilibrium modeling.
Gayle holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh (2004), and earlier degrees from the University of the West Indies-Mona (B.Sc. 1996, M.Sc. 1998).
