Prof George Lawson is a leading scholar in International Relations and Historical Sociology at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (2003) and has held positions at LSE and Goldsmiths College. His research focuses on revolutions, global modernity, and the interplay between history and theory. Key books include Anatomies of Revolution (2019), On Revolutions (2022), and The Global Transformation (2015, co-authored with Barry Buzan). Awards include the Hedley Bull Prize (2020) and Francesco Guicciardini Prize (2017).
Current projects include a study on liberalism and revolution, and the ANU Futures initiative (2023–2025).
