About
George Kentros serves as a project manager and artistic researcher at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH), affiliated with the Department of Composition, Conducting & Music Theory. He teaches in the international master's program CoPeCo while leading the Swedish Research Council (VR) project Back to the Future!
His research investigates interpretive methods for historical versus contemporary musical works through artistic experimentation. The Back to the Future! project applies contemporary art theory, philosophy, and musicology to reinterpret historical compositions, stemming from his ensemble work with Mattias Petersson in There are no more four seasons. His practice integrates experimental performance techniques across electronic, improvisational, and score-based traditions.
Kentros maintains an active performance career as a violinist, having founded experimental ensembles including Pärlor för svin, There are no more four seasons, and GAHLMM. His 25-year international trajectory spans solo and chamber performances across North/Central America, Europe, Japan, and Oceania. He contributes to cultural policy development and serves on the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) executive committee since 2018.
