George Foden

George Foden is a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Geography & Environment at Loughborough University, focusing on sustainable shelter design and humanitarian action. He leads the QSAND shelter sustainability framework and previously served as Humanitarian Programme Lead at BRE Trust, developing tools for disaster response. George holds an MA in Conflict, Security, and Development and a BSc in Psychology with American Studies from the University of Sussex.

His research interests emphasize disaster resilience, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainable development. Recent work explores integrating energy-resilient strategies into emergency shelters and preserving heritage sites in flood-prone regions. His articles highlight trends in disaster risk reduction and humanitarian engineering.

George is a trustee of The Kanji Project, supporting education initiatives in rural Tamil Nadu, and has collaborated with community organizations in the U.S. and Bosnia-Herzegovina. His work bridges academic research with practical humanitarian tools for post-disaster contexts.
