George Fleming is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick with over 20 years of professional experience in media production and university education. He serves as the strand leader for media practice in the 'Media and Creative Industries' degree program, which was ranked No. 1 in The Guardian's best universities in the UK for 2023 and 2024. His teaching includes Media Lab 1, Screenwriting in the Digital World, Media Lab Major Project, and Dissertation modules.
Fleming holds a BA (Hons) in Visual Performance from Dartington College of Arts, an MA in Film Production and Visual Cultures from Staffordshire University, and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Glasgow. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA) and serves as the Chief External Examiner for the University of Westminster School of Media & Communication.
His research focuses on cultural democracy and cultural pluralism, particularly as applied to community and socially engaged arts practice. Through his ongoing PhD by Practice, he explores these concepts through research papers and accompanying media artifacts.
