George Cholankeril

Dr. George Cholankeril is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Medicine (Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology) and the Department of Surgery (Division of Abdominal Transplantation). He specializes in liver transplantation and related diseases.

• Education: MD from American University of the Caribbean, MSc in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from Stanford University School of Medicine.
• Training: Residency in Internal Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, Fellowship in Transplant Hepatology at University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Cholankeril's research focuses on transplant hepatology, including liver cancer, fatty liver disease, and transplant outcomes. His clinical work involves pre- and post-transplant care for end-stage liver disease patients at Baylor St Luke's Medical Center. He has contributed to studies on HCV-positive liver transplantation and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on transplant practices.
