George Busenberg, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Environmental Management and Policy at Soka University of America (since 2009), where he also served as Director of the Environmental Studies Concentration (2013–2016). Previously, he held academic roles including Assistant Professorships at the University of Colorado Denver (2002–2009) and the University of Nevada Las Vegas (2000–2002). His expertise lies in environmental policy, with a focus on disaster management, marine environmental protection, and policy dynamics in resource-extraction contexts.
Busenberg holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA from Rice University. His research explores topics such as citizen participation in environmental governance, wildfire policy evolution, and the intersection of energy development and environmental conservation.
