George Barber

George Barber serves as a Professor of HPR (Health, Physical Education, and Recreation) and Head Men's Basketball Coach at Greenville University, a position he has held for 15 years. His academic and coaching career includes prior roles as an assistant coach at Bradley University where he mentored NBA player Anthony Parker, and as an administrative assistant coach on Rick Pitino's 1996 NCAA Championship-winning staff at the University of Kentucky that featured nine future NBA players.

His professional focus centers on basketball coaching methodology, physical education pedagogy, and sports education systems. Barber integrates practical coaching experience with academic instruction in health and recreation management, emphasizing athlete development within educational frameworks through his dual faculty-athletics role.

As head coach of Greenville University's Men's Basketball program, Barber oversees all aspects of team development while maintaining active professional affiliations including the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) since 1995 and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPHERD) since 1985. His work bridges academic theory with elite-level coaching practice in collegiate athletics.
