George A. James Jr.

George A. James Jr. serves as an Adjunct Instructor in Couple & Family Therapy. He holds a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Immaculata University (2015), an MFT in Couple & Family Therapy from Drexel University (2003), and a BS in Psychology & Africana Studies from Villanova University (2001). He is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Pennsylvania and an AAMFT Clinical Fellow.

Dr. James specializes in couple and family therapy with a focus on conflict management in relationships, emotional exploration for professional athletes, and identity/fatherhood issues among adolescents and adult men. His research centers on Trauma-Informed Care, racial disparities in HIV/AIDS, and community-based interventions within African American populations, emphasizing culturally responsive approaches to reduce health inequities.

As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, Dr. James trains and supervises marriage and family therapists. He actively collaborates with African American community and faith leaders on participatory research projects in Philadelphia aimed at developing HIV prevention strategies and policy recommendations.

Dr. James is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, American Psychological Association, Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and Delaware Valley Association of Black Psychologists.
