Geoffrey Browne

Dr Geoffrey Browne is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Senior Tutor at the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne, with subject coordination responsibilities in urban planning, climate change, and public health. His work bridges policy, environmental justice, and health equity, with a focus on leveraging 'liveability' frameworks to enhance infrastructure outcomes.

Geoff holds a PhD (2018) on evidence-based municipal health planning. He previously served as Principal Program Officer at VicHealth, a senior policy analyst with the Victorian Government, and a wildfire fighter. He authored key environmental reports, including the 2008 State of the Environment and 2013 State Waste Policy.

Research interests include the ecological model of public health, commercial determinants of health, and climate change policy integration. His work emphasizes frameworks for policy portfolios, environmental justice indicators, and health impact assessments.

Recent projects include climate adaptation-mitigation integration in built environments and barriers to climate action in architecture. Geoff's contributions span academic research, policy development, and practical implementation in sustainability and health equity.
