Geoff Smith

Geoff Smith is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Information Management at Loughborough University. He serves as a non-executive director, advisor, and data strategist with a focus on human rights, social empowerment, and cultural transformation in emerging data platforms and intelligent machine technologies. His expertise spans over 30 years in data privacy, governance, and system transformation across sectors including financial services, tourism, energy, and public health.

In addition to his academic role, Smith advises the UK Government's National Digital Twin Program and participates in initiatives like the 4D Special Interest Group, SOLID World, and the DIF Travel and Hospitality SIG. He is actively involved in developing Green Tech solutions for micro-enterprise carbon efficiency and managing 'quantum risk' through his boutique data consultancy.

His research interests center on digital ethics, trust economies, leadership in innovation, and empowerment technologies. He advocates for sustainable development through ethical advisory roles in transformative data systems and emerging technologies.
