About
Professor Geoff Haddock is a full Professor in the School of Psychology at Cardiff University, where he has held academic appointments since 1995. He earned his BSc from the University of Toronto and his MA and PhD from the University of Waterloo, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan.

Research Interests
Professor Haddock's research centres on the psychology of attitudes. He investigates how attitudes form, are organised, and change over time, with particular focus on:
- Affective and cognitive determinants of attitudes
- Attitude ambivalence and its consequences
- Individual differences in attitude processes
- The role of mindfulness in attitude change
- Impact of child salience on prosocial behaviour and values
- Mental representations of attitude objects using reverse-correlation techniques
His methodological toolkit spans experimental social psychology, psychophysiology, and neuroimaging, often in collaboration with colleagues at Cardiff, Bath, Reading, City, Essex, and international partners in Israel, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Teaching & Supervision
Professor Haddock lectures on second-year Social Psychology (altruism, aggression, health behaviour) and is module co-ordinator for the final-year course PS3403 Attitudes and Attitude Change. He supervises undergraduate and postgraduate projects in attitude psychology and currently mentors PhD student Joseph Newton.
Research Funding & Leadership
He has secured over £1 million in external funding from the ESRC, Leverhulme Trust, Alzheimer’s Research Trust, Research England, and other bodies for projects on values, mindfulness, anti-racism advertising, and child salience. He is a member of the ESRC Peer Review College, Strategic Advisory Network, and has served on numerous editorial boards and external examiner panels.
Research Environment
Professor Haddock is affiliated with the Social and Environmental Psychology Research Group at Cardiff and has organised multiple international conferences for the European Association of Social Psychology.
