Geoff Childs is Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in anthropological demography that integrates qualitative and quantitative methods. His research examines Tibetan populations in Nepal, China, and India, focusing on demographic trends, family management strategies, and sociocultural adaptation.
Childs leads multiple research initiatives including longitudinal studies in Nubri, Nepal examining education migration; socioeconomic change and aging in Tibet; historical demography of Kyirong; and biocultural collaborations on high-altitude adaptation. His fieldwork has received support from Fulbright-Hays, Wenner-Gren Foundation, and National Science Foundation.
