Gentry White is an Associate Professor and Government Statistics Chair in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Missouri and serves as Co-leader of the Data Science & AI in Society Theme.
His research develops quantitative methods for analyzing complex social phenomena, including point-process models for terrorist activity, computational strategies for high-dimensional data, and statistical approaches for intelligence analysis. Current projects investigate contagion dynamics in terrorism, soil carbon sequestration modelling, and optimization of statistical geography frameworks.
White holds honorary positions as Associate Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research (UQ). He has presented research to the US Department of Homeland Security and Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation.
He teaches Engineering Mathematics and coordinates statistical units while maintaining consulting relationships with government agencies including the Electoral Commission of Queensland.
