Geneviève Appleton is an Instructor and Filmmaker at Bilkent University's Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, within the Research & Production Department. She began her career in the 1980s as an actor in notable TV series and films such as KIDS OF DEGRASSI and ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, THE SEQUEL. After earning a B.A.A. in Film Production with Honours from Ryerson University (Toronto, 1994), she transitioned into producing roles.
Her professional work includes associate producing the award-winning CBC mini-series THE ARROW (starring Dan Aykroyd) and contributing to feature films like SUCH A LONG JOURNEY and WHOLE NEW THING. Recently, she produced Amnon Buchbinder’s short film TRAVELLING MEDICINE SHOW: APOCALYPSE and is currently producing the interactive documentary BIOLOGY OF STORY.
Her research interests focus on innovative storytelling methods, new media applications in art, and interactive documentary formats. She actively engages with initiatives like the Bilkent Media Future Initiative, exploring evolving trends in digital media and production.
