Generose Nziguheba is a Senior Scientist and researcher specializing in agricultural sustainability and land use in sub-Saharan Africa. She joined IPBO (part of VIB) in 2021, focusing on fostering Africa-focused research collaborations. Previously, she led sustainable land use assessments at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and coordinated agricultural projects across Africa as an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University's Earth Institute. She holds a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences from KU Leuven (Belgium) and a Bioengineering degree from the University of Burundi.
Her work emphasizes soil management, legume integration in small-scale farming systems, and sustainable agricultural intensification. She has over 20 years of experience in applied research, with projects impacting agricultural policies and practices across multiple African countries. Current affiliations include VIB-UGent in Ghent, Belgium.
