About
Gemma Cadby is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia's School of Population and Global Health within the Genetic Epidemiology Group. Her work focuses on genetic and environmental influences on complex traits using genomic, epidemiological, and lipidomic data. Current research emphasizes lipid species genetics and obstructive sleep apnoea health outcomes. She has secured over $3.1M in grants, including an NHMRC project grant for the Busselton Family Heart Study.
Research interests include genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, cardiovascular disease, mesothelioma genetics, and breast density analysis. She leads projects on lipidomic risk scores, breast density in young women, and sleep apnoea outcomes. Cadby holds roles at the Busselton Population Medical Research Institute, including Executive Board member and Community Advisory Committee co-chair.
Her 82+ publications span genetic association studies, cohort analyses, and clinical outcomes research. Key contributions include lipidome-wide analyses and sleep apnoea-cardiovascular links. Awards include major grant funding; her work aligns with UN SDGs for health and well-being (SDG 3) and sustainable cities (SDG 11).
