Geert Wiegertjes

Geert Wiegertjes is a Full Professor at the Aquaculture and Fisheries Group, Wageningen University & Research. His research focuses on fish immunology, disease resistance, and sustainable aquaculture practices.

• Specialized in teleost immunology (zebrafish, common carp, rainbow trout)
• Active in parasite transmission studies and genomic research
• Co-organizer of the 15th International Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology Congress (2023)

• Evolutionary integration of fever and adaptive immunity in fish
• Characterization of B cell subsets in carp

Scientific Contributions include 351 research outputs, 25 active/finished projects, and 8 datasets. He supervises multiple PhD candidates and received the NWO Mosaic 2.0 Grant (2022) for evolutionary immunology research.
