Prof. Dr. Geert Jennes is a Professor of Economics at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, specializing in decentralized governance, federalism, and public finance. He holds a Ph.D. in political economy from KU Leuven, focusing on decentralization in Belgium. With 15 years of international development experience, he has advised institutions like the World Bank and EU on public finance management in Africa and fiscal federalism. His research bridges academic theory with policy practice, addressing topics such as interregional fiscal transfers and institutional reforms in federal systems.
His work includes analyzing Belgium’s fiscal constitution for the OECD and co-authoring influential papers on political representation’s impact on income distribution. He actively publishes opinion pieces on federalism challenges in Belgian media. Teaching focuses on macroeconomics, public finance, and international sustainability economics.
