Gebhard Fartacek is a Lecturer at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna. His research focuses on Middle Eastern anthropology with specialization in Druze communities, identity formation, and conflict resolution. He directs the FWF project 'Death & Life: Local Conceptions of Reincarnation among the Druzes' and teaches ethnographic methodologies.
Research specialties include analysis of uncertainty contexts, mobility patterns, forced migration dynamics, and anthropological field methods. His office is located in the New Institute Building (NIG) at Universitätsstraße 7.
