Gayle Smink

Gayle Smink, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Penn State Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on pediatric oncology, vascular anomalies, sickle cell disease, and cancer survivorship. She has contributed to studies on sociodemographic patterns in vascular anomaly patients, adverse drug reactions in leukemia treatment, and fertility preservation decision-making in young cancer survivors.

Smink’s work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. She has been recognized with the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2020). Her research employs methodologies ranging from systematic reviews to randomized controlled trials, addressing both clinical and psychosocial aspects of pediatric oncology care.
