About
Gaurav Giri is an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia. He earned a B.S. from Caltech (2008), Ph.D. from Stanford University (2013), and completed postdoctoral research at MIT. His research investigates fundamental processes controlling organic molecule and metal-organic framework (MOF) morphologies.
Research interests include:
- Nanomaterials and nanomanufacturing
- Organic semiconductor crystallization
- Microfluidic processing
- Drug delivery systems
- Energy harvesting materials
- Advanced materials characterization
His publications demonstrate expertise in crystallization control, thin-film processing, and MOF applications. Recent work emphasizes scalable manufacturing, CO2 conversion, and energy material design.
Honors include MRS Gold Award, TSMC Research Award, and multiple graduate fellowships. Current projects investigate perovskite-templated crystallization, MOF-polymer composites, and bioelectrochemical manufacturing.
