Gary Punter is a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Industrial Sustainability within the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge, and an Industrial Associate consultant for IfM Engage. He founded the Cambridge Sustainability Improvement Methodology (CSIM/Sustain 8), which engages front-line factory workers to drive sustainable transformation and deliver 15-30% efficiency gains in energy, waste, materials, water, and rework across global manufacturing sectors.
His research focuses on industrial sustainability and closed-loop bio-refinery systems, specializing in diversified 'no waste' production of food, feed, alcohol, bioenergy, and biochemicals from agricultural crops. The Wissington Bio-refinery serves as a key case study demonstrating his expertise in circular economy applications for agri-manufacturing.
