Dr. Gary J Cundill is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Buckingham's School of Business within the Faculty of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences since 2021. He holds adjunct faculty status at Milpark Business School (Johannesburg) and Recognized Teacher Status at Cranfield University. His academic credentials include a PhD in Leadership and Management, along with qualifications in engineering (BScEng (Chemical), BEng Hons (Water Utilisation)) and theology (DipTh, BTh (Arts)).
With over three decades in industry, Dr. Cundill transitioned from technical roles in the steel, chemicals, and property sectors to leadership in corporate sustainability for a multinational group. His research focuses on ESG frameworks, shareholder activism’s impact on corporate practices, and the alignment of environmental/social goals with financial outcomes.
His work bridges industry and academia, addressing challenges in sustainable development, governance structures, and leadership strategies. He is a member of the British Academy of Management and has presented at global forums including the Academy of Management Annual Meeting and International Journal of Management Reviews. Beyond academia, he enjoys reading, fishing, hiking, and family time.
