Gary Goldfield is an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He is also a Senior Scientist at the CHEO Research Institute, leading the Healthy Active Living & Obesity (HALO) Research Group, which he co-founded in 2003. Dr. Goldfield holds a Ph.D. from Carleton University and is a registered clinical psychologist specializing in psychological services for children, adolescents, and adults.
His research focuses on physical activity, screen time, biological and psychosocial factors influencing eating behavior, body weight, and mental health in youth. He develops novel behavioral interventions to address pediatric obesity and mental illness, with recent work exploring pharmacological approaches. Dr. Goldfield actively contributes to academic governance, serving on editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals in his field.
