Gary F Peters

Gary F Peters is the Senior Associate Dean and S. Robson Walton Endowed Professor of Accounting at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas. He joined the institution in 2003 after serving at the University of Georgia and has held administrative roles since 2006, including Director of the Master’s of Accounting Program and Department Chair from 2016–2023.

His research focuses on audit risk, accounting disclosure, corporate governance, and accounting professionalism, with an emphasis on the roles of Audit Committees, External Auditors, and Internal Auditors. His work bridges accounting and disciplines like Management Information Systems and Business Ethics, cited over 10,000 times with an h-index of 30.

Gary has led AACSB accreditation initiatives and served as President of the American Accounting Association’s Leadership in Accounting Education Section. His administrative leadership includes cultivating a $10 million endowment for the William Dillard Department of Accounting and launching online degree programs.
