Gary Bailey

Gary Bailey is a Professor of Practice at Simmons University School of Social Work and holds a secondary appointment at the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. He serves as Special Assistant to the Dean for Inter-Professional Education and has held leadership roles in national social work organizations.

• Education: BA from Eliot Pearson School of Child Study at Tufts University; MSW from Boston University School of Social Work; Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Connecticut

His research and professional focus spans social work, public health, and interdisciplinary education. He has contributed to global social work initiatives, including the International Federation of Social Workers and the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Global Social Work Education.

Scientific Awards and Honors:

• Fulbright Specialist for the United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF)

Bailey has held advisory roles on boards such as the AIDS Action Committees and For Our CommUnitieS, Inc. (FOCUS, Inc.), and was appointed to the Massachusetts LGBT-Q Youth Commission and the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) board.
