Gary Adamson

Dr. Gary Adamson is a Full Professor of Psychology at Ulster University, affiliated with the School of Psychology within the Faculty of Life & Health Sciences. He has over 20 years of experience teaching research methods and statistics, with a focus on latent variable models applied to mental health and wellbeing. His research explores statistical methodologies to address public health challenges, including mental health disparities, aging populations, and chronic disease management. Since 2010, he has led ESRC-funded courses on latent variable modeling, delivered across multiple institutions.

Research Interests: Professor Adamson specializes in latent variable modeling techniques, mental health epidemiology, healthcare utilization patterns in older adults, and the socio-economic determinants of health. His work integrates statistical rigor with real-world applications, such as improving stroke survivor rehabilitation and optimizing medication management in intermediate care settings.
