About
Gareth Sullivan is an Industry Principal Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews School of Medicine. His research develops stem cell-derived organoid models for studying mitochondrial disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Sullivan's work advances applications of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology in disease modeling and drug screening.
Research focuses on POLG-related mitochondrial disorders, cerebral organoid development, and hepatobiliary transport mechanisms. His team employs 3D microperfusion systems to enhance organoid functionality and disease modeling accuracy.
Sullivan's publications demonstrate extensive work on mitochondrial dysfunction mechanisms and stem cell applications. Recent innovations include NAD+ precursor therapies for mitochondrial defects and cerebral organoid models that recapitulate disease pathology.
As Principal Investigator, Dr. Sullivan leads projects on liver organoid testing platforms and neuroprotective therapies. His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health innovation.
