Gareth Owen

Gareth Owen is a pianist, collaborator, and teacher serving as Deputy Head of the Department of Keyboard at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He previously held roles as Head of Piano at Eton College and a piano professor at Junior Guildhall. His academic and professional journey includes studies with Alicja Fiderkiewicz at Chetham’s School of Music, Joan Havill at the Guildhall School, and postgraduate work with Menahem Pressler at the Banff Centre for the Arts, alongside masterclasses with Dimitri Bashkirov and Leon Fleisher.

Notable performances include appearances at the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, and international festivals such as Verbier. He has broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC television, and ABC Australia. Owen is frequently invited to examine, adjudicate, and teach masterclasses at music schools and summer programs across the UK and beyond. His recent engagements include recitals in France and the UK, as well as performances of Rachmaninov’s Concerto No. 1.
