Prof. Olga Garaschuk is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurophysiology at the University of Tuebingen, Germany. Her research focuses on neural-immune interactions, neurodegeneration, and Alzheimer’s disease. She holds leadership roles including President of the German Physiological Society and chairs the PhD program ‘Experimental Medicine’ at Tuebingen.
- Education: Diploma in Biophysics (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, 1989), PhD in Biology (Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology, 1992), Habilitation (Ludwig-Maximilians University, 2003)
Research Interests: Investigates microglia (patho)physiology, neuroinflammation, neural network development, and memory mechanisms. Uses advanced imaging techniques to study in vivo neural activity.
Awards & Roles: Elected to Academia Europaea (2019), editorial roles in Pflügers Archiv and Scientific Reports, and leadership in German-Ukrainian Academic Society.
Grants & Labs: Co-leader of research area C at the Werner Reichardt Centre for Integrative Neuroscience. Active in grant reviews for major funding bodies worldwide.
