Dr. Gao directs the Flow Imaging and Renewable Energy (FIRE) Lab at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Colorado Denver, where he joined as an Assistant Professor in August 2022. He actively mentors students through programs like EURēCA! and focuses on experimental fluid dynamics and renewable energy systems.
- Research Interests: Advanced flow diagnostics, thermal fluid systems, wind turbine icing physics, anti-/de-icing technology, and extreme weather impacts on renewable energy infrastructure.
