Gail Pickering is a Reader in Fine Art and Programme Director of the Masters in Artists’ Film & Moving Image at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her interdisciplinary practice spans moving image, performance, installation, and sound art. She has exhibited internationally, including in the British Art Show 7, Tate Britain, and ICA London, with recent solo exhibitions at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and La Ferme Du Buission.

Her research explores temporal instability through historical material appropriation, voice, mimicry, and live presence. Key themes include the tension between moving image and live performance, creating spatial-temporal disruptions. Her works have been nominated for the Jarman Award and supported by major arts councils.
Selected exhibitions and films include Assembly: A Survey of British Artists’ Film (Tate Britain, 2014), Mirror Speech (BALTIC, 2014-15), and Random Acts (Channel 4, 2013). She is also an external examiner at Glasgow School of Art.
