Gail Archer

Gail Archer is a Professor of Professional Practice in Music at Barnard College, part of Columbia University. She serves as the Director of the Barnard-Columbia Chorus and Chamber Choir and teaches a year-long course on Western Classical Music, spanning from Gregorian Chant to contemporary composers. As an international concert organist and recording artist, she highlights composer anniversaries and musical themes through her annual recital series.

Her roles include

• Co-Deputy Director of the East Central European Center
• Host of the Concert for Peace at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

. Her research interests focus on music performance, pedagogy, and choral traditions, with a strong emphasis on cultural and historical narratives in music.
