Gaetano Grilli is a Lecturer in Business at the Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia, and a member of the Finance Group. He is also an Associate at the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) and deputy Coordinator of the Fintech LAB. His research focuses on sustainable development, ecosystem services valuation, and the transition to sustainable societies, with expertise in econometric and statistical techniques applied to environmental and economic challenges.
Grilli holds a PhD in Quantitative Economics for Sustainability from the University of Naples Parthenope and an MSc in Environmental Economics from the University of Siena. He has held roles including Research Fellow at CSERGE and Senior Data Analyst at Cefas. His teaching includes Financial Management, Sustainable Management MBA, and modules on environmental economics.
Current projects include the NERC-funded 'Pyramids of Life' and 'Benthic-Offshore Wind Interactions', exploring fisheries management and offshore wind energy. Previous work includes the GROW Colombia project on sustainable agriculture. Collaborations span institutions like the European Commission Joint Research Centre, DEFRA, and the Office for National Statistics.
Grilli’s research emphasizes real-world applications, such as ecosystem accounting frameworks and policy design for marine protection. His work has informed UK natural capital accounts and agricultural incentives schemes. He has organized training courses on choice experiments and economic valuation for governments and practitioners.
