Gabriella Olshammar is a Researcher at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Conservation, working part-time since her return to research in 2022. She holds a Bachelor’s in Urban Conservation (1996) and a Ph.D. in Architecture–Urban Planning and Design (2002). She previously served as an Assistant Professor (2005–2008) before a six-year hiatus. Her current focus is the regeneration of urban industrial sites, emphasizing sociocultural values in marginalized areas. She leads a project funded by the Swedish National Heritage Board (2015–2016) exploring industrial riverfronts in Gothenburg. Her interdisciplinary approach incorporates science fiction narratives to inform sustainable urban visions.
Key research interests include industrial heritage conservation, urban transformation, and stakeholder collaboration. She has conducted postdoctoral research in Melbourne (2004) and actively engages with municipalities and heritage sectors.
