Gabriella Levy is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington, affiliated with the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology and the Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University (2023) and a BA in Political Science from Columbia University (2017). Prior to UW, she held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Brown University’s Center for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (2023–2024) and was a Jennings Randolph Peace Scholar Fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace (2022–2023).
Her research focuses on how individuals interpret and respond to political violence in conflict-affected regions, particularly Latin America. Key areas include wartime civilian targeting, vigilantism, and migrant extortion. Methodologically, she emphasizes survey-based approaches, bridging international relations, comparative politics, and political psychology. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, World Bank, and U.S. Institute of Peace.
