Gabriele Rathgeb

Gabriele Rathgeb is Professor of Multilingualism at the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol. She heads the Federal Focus German Primary program and directs the Language Lab.

Her research examines multilingual education, literacy development, and phenomenological approaches to language learning. Rathgeb develops practical resources like diagnostic reading kits and multilingual exploration kits for primary education.

She investigates how curiosity and wonder influence learning processes, and explores diversity-sensitive teaching methods through phenomenological vignette research. Her work emphasizes leveraging linguistic diversity as an educational resource across subjects.

Rathgeb leads projects on reading strategy development, multilingual classroom approaches, and differentiated writing instruction using digital tools.
