Gabriele Koiner

Dr. Gabriele Koiner is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Antiquity, Faculty of Humanities, University of Graz. Active since 1992 as Contract Assistant and Lecturer since 2020, she specializes in Greek and Roman sculpture, Cypriot archaeology, and ancient iconography. Her research spans fieldwork in Cyprus (Amargeti, 2019-2023), architectural ornamentation (Temple of Tyche, 2013-2018), and collaborative projects on Cypriot sculpture (2013-2021).

• Education: Diploma in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History (Graz, Heidelberg, 1986-1991), PhD in Classical Archaeology (Graz/Princeton, 1991-1995), Habilitation (2019).

Her scholarly focus includes ancient Cyprus, Greek surface art, and architectural ornamentation. Publications examine Hellenistic terracottas, Nazi-era archaeological documents, and Cypriot portrait styles. She served on curriculum commissions for Art History (2019-2022) and Classical Archaeology (2009-2022), edited journals like Keryx (2012-2013), and co-edited book series on Cypriot studies (1996-2016).
