Gabriele Guerra is a Researcher (fixed-term contract, Type B) in German Literature at the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies, Sapienza University of Rome. He earned his degree in 1994 with a thesis on Walter Benjamin and a PhD in Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft at Freie Universität Berlin. His research spans German-Jewish identity, the Conservative Revolution, avant-garde movements, and political theology.
Guerra's publications and projects—Trans-forming between Ancient and Modern and The Other from Across the Rhine—focus on metamorphosis in German literature, Franco-German cultural relations, and intersections of aesthetics, politics, and religion. He is a member of the PRIN research group Klassische Moderne 1880-1930 and serves as an editor for Links. Rivista di letteratura e cultura tedesca. His awards include a DAAD scholarship (1995-1996) and a research fellowship at Zentrum für Kultur- und Literaturforschung, Berlin (2012).
His teaching includes Letteratura Tedesca I-III and Letterature e Culture di Espressione Tedesca, emphasizing historical avant-gardes, political theology, and German-Jewish thought. Guerra also organizes academic conferences and contributes to literaturkritik.de as a reviewer.
