About
Prof. Dr. Gabriele Ende serves as Professor and Department Head of Neuroimaging at the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI), Mannheim, and leads the Core Facility ZIPP. Her research employs advanced magnetic resonance spectroscopy to investigate neurochemical alterations in psychiatric disorders, with a focus on glutamate dynamics and metabolic changes in brain regions like the anterior cingulate cortex and amygdala.
Her publication record reveals persistent themes in translational neuroimaging, particularly multi-center validation of MR spectroscopy techniques and neurochemical underpinnings of borderline personality disorder and addiction. The 2020 Radiology paper exemplifies her leadership in standardizing cross-institutional neuroimaging protocols for reliable biomarker identification.
Under her direction, the Core Facility ZIPP provides critical infrastructure for neuroimaging research in mental health, supporting both clinical and preclinical studies through state-of-the-art technical resources and methodological expertise.
