Gabriel Eckstein

Gabriel Eckstein is a Professor of Law and Director of the Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resource Systems Law Program at Texas A&M University School of Law. He also leads the Environmental & Natural Resources Systems Clinic. His expertise spans Water Law, International Law, Environmental Law, and Transboundary Resource Governance. Eckstein focuses on legal frameworks for transboundary aquifers, sustainable water management, and the intersection of law with environmental science.

Education & Experience: Eckstein holds advanced legal qualifications and has been recognized for teaching excellence, including the Texas Tech University President’s Excellence in Teaching Award (2008). His career includes roles as a Research Scholar at The Hague Academy for International Law and leadership in environmental law programs.

Research Interests: Transboundary water resources, international environmental law, geothermal energy rights, and climate adaptation strategies. His work emphasizes legal mechanisms to address water scarcity, conflict resolution in shared basins, and equitable resource distribution.

Awards: 2024 Member of the American Law Institute; 2021 Distinguished Associate Award (International Association of Hydrogeologists); 2011 'Best Paper' for groundbreaking work on transboundary aquifers.
