Gabor Janiga

apl. Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Gabor Janiga is a faculty member at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, affiliated with the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics under the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering. He also collaborates with the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems.

• Education: Habilitation (2011), PhD (2002), and Dipl.-Ing. (1998) in Mechanical Engineering.

His research focuses on medical flows for cardiovascular diseases, combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with hemodynamic modeling and scale-resolved turbulent flow simulations to develop virtual treatments for patient-specific cases. He specializes in coupling CFD-optimization frameworks and advanced post-processing techniques like proper orthogonal decomposition.

Recent work includes 2025 publication on workflow variability in intracranial aneurysm hemodynamics, demonstrating his expertise in integrating CFD with clinical applications. Collaborations span institutions like Siemens Healthcare, University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and Hungarian University of Miskolc.
