Gabe H. Miller

Gabe H. Miller is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), College of Arts and Sciences. He holds additional roles as Associate Scientist in multiple interdisciplinary centers, including the School of Medicine’s Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE) and Center for AIDS Research. His academic background includes a BA in Political Science, MA and PhD in Sociology from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Miller’s research focuses on intersections of race, gender identity, and public health, with particular attention to LGBTQ+ populations. His work examines health disparities, workplace discrimination against transgender/nonbinary individuals, immigration detention experiences, and health equity influenced by policy. Key themes include mental health outcomes of marginalized communities, racial context impacts on immigrant health, and systemic barriers affecting transgender healthcare access.
