GIULIA RAMPOLLA

Giulia Rampolla is an Adjunct Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at the University of Naples L'Orientale and the University of International Studies of Rome. She holds a PhD in East Asian Studies (China) from the University of Naples L'Orientale (2010), specializing in contemporary Chinese literature. Her research focuses on urban representation in 21st-century Chinese fiction, subaltern class narratives, historical memory, and gender studies in literature. Since 2015, she has contributed to the research project 'The Metropolis in Asia.' She has taught Chinese language, literature, and culture at multiple Italian universities since 2011, including the University of Macerata and Rome's University of International Studies.

Research Interests: Dr. Rampolla explores modern and contemporary Chinese literature's engagement with urbanization, marginalized voices, and historical narratives, with a focus on gender dynamics in post-1960s/70s writers. Her work bridges literary analysis and sociocultural critique, particularly in analyzing how Chinese authors depict the evolving relationship between cities and rural areas.
