G. Michael Russo

G. Michael Russo is an Assistant Professor of Professional Counseling in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Oklahoma. He serves as Internship Coordinator and Director of the ANNETTE Lab (Applied Neurofeedback and Neurocounseling Education, Training, and Testing Evaluation Lab). His roles include coordinating the Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certificate program and maintaining licensure as a professional counselor in Oklahoma. Russo holds certifications as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Board Certified Neurofeedback Fellow (BCN-Fellow).

His research focuses on neuroscience applications in counseling, neurofeedback therapy, anxiety management, trauma recovery, and addiction interventions. Russo integrates 10+ years of clinical experience into his academic work and emphasizes community engagement and counseling student success initiatives.
